The Last Lightkeeper: the lonely guardian of Glacier Mist
The story of an old pilot who has lit the ancient beacon in A-2 alone for thirty years. The night the beacon went dark, the mist swallowed a ship.
Every pilot who has lost their way in Glacier Mist knows that blue light blinking in the distance. The keeper is Master Emir Tan, the last surviving pilot of Aurora's first exploration fleet. Everyone assumes he retired long ago.
Tan explains there is a reason the beacon is lit at 23:00 every night: "The mist is alive, kid. As long as it sees the light, it sleeps." Last winter a fault put the beacon out for an hour, and a cargo ship crossing the zone vanished from radar, never to be found.
Now pilots are pooling Ironite for the beacon's backup generator. Tan just smiles at the donations: "The beacon must burn after I'm gone too. Someone has to learn."
